Start with the problem
An export and a finished replacement website are different deliverables. Available export options depend on the source content, while layouts, integrations and business workflows still need review. We compare the actual Squarespace site with the agreed WordPress result.
What the work can include
- Source page, blog, media and important-URL inventory
- Review of available content exports and import suitability
- WordPress layout and navigation rebuild
- Forms, newsletter and third-party embed recreation within scope
- Commerce and member-feature assessment where applicable
- Redirect mapping, media verification and launch QA
Scope and boundaries
An export is not assumed to carry the complete site. Store records, memberships, subscriptions, custom code and connected services are assessed individually. Third-party fees, license costs, copywriting and unsupported transfers are identified before work begins.
How the work proceeds
Check the source content
Review the actual Squarespace version, content types and export options. Identify media that needs verification and business features that need a replacement.
Map the WordPress build
Agree the templates, editing structure and old-to-new URLs. Separate reusable content from a redesign or a new feature request.
Import and rebuild
Use suitable exports where they help, then rebuild and review what did not transfer. Check images, links, formatting, metadata and the agreed forms.
Cut over after review
Confirm domain and email arrangements, activate the approved redirects and test the live site after launch. Keep a recovery route for the agreed period.
Media and formatting deserve a deliberate review
A content import can leave missing images, old internal links or unexpected formatting. The acceptance list includes representative articles, galleries and service pages rather than only the homepage. Your content inventory determines which exceptions need manual work.
Separate the website from connected subscriptions
Domain registration, email, scheduling, commerce and newsletter services may have different account owners and renewals. We identify what remains in place and what changes. Cancel old services only after the required replacement and data checks are complete.
Buyer questions
Does the Squarespace export move everything?
Do not assume that. We inspect the current export options and the site's content types, then list anything requiring manual transfer or rebuilding.
Can you keep my blog URLs?
Useful URLs are reviewed first. Where the new structure differs, we prepare a mapping and appropriate redirects rather than promising every address will remain identical.
What happens to memberships or commerce?
These need a feature and data assessment. Equivalent functionality and any limits are included in the proposal before the rebuild.
Can you redesign while migrating?
Yes. Redesign and content-transfer work are separated in scope so you can review each requirement clearly.
