Squarespace to WordPress Content and SEO Checklist
Check Squarespace-to-WordPress content, images, URLs, metadata and discovery paths before and after an approved launch.

A successful content transfer needs more than the same number of pages. The replacement should preserve useful information, working media and the paths visitors and search engines use to find it. Use the checklist with the actual export and rebuild scope rather than assuming every item transfers automatically.
Reconcile the content inventory
Match the important source pages and articles to the WordPress destinations. Mark retained, improved, consolidated and retired material. Review missing content with the business owner instead of silently dropping it.
Check titles, introductions, headings, lists and captions on representative pages. Imported formatting can differ from the original editor. A page count cannot reveal a missing call to action or an important paragraph embedded in an unsupported block.
Verify media and internal links
Open the images used by service pages, galleries and articles. Confirm their permanent source, suitable size and rights. Use descriptive alt text where appropriate and reserve space so images do not cause unnecessary layout movement.
Update internal links to intended destinations. Look for old platform addresses, temporary staging links and references to pages deliberately removed from the new structure. Check download links separately from ordinary navigation.
Review metadata and URL decisions
Compare search titles, descriptions, main headings and canonicals. Record any changed addresses and their relevant redirect destinations. The destination should answer the original visitor task, not simply send every retired page to the homepage.
Keep preview noindex protection during development. The release checklist must then confirm the intended production indexability, successful responses and appropriate sitemap discovery. Preview approval and live verification are different gates.
Test the conversion path
Open the page from mobile navigation or an article link, find the relevant service and submit a labeled inquiry test. Confirm receipt with the business, including Spam checks. Test any separately scoped booking, commerce or newsletter integration.
Keep personal form values out of analytics events. A click on a contact link and a delivered inquiry need different labels when assessing the new site's business performance.
Archive the release evidence
Retain the page map, approved redirects, test notes and unresolved exceptions. Use Search Console access where available for stored coverage information and later performance review. An indexing request is not a guarantee of inclusion or rankings.
StartMyWeb can scope the Squarespace migration checks alongside the rebuild. Clear responsibilities make it easier to resolve exceptions before the old platform or connected services are canceled.
