START WITH THE PROBLEM

A clear plan for the website you need.

A hosting renewal, slow server or domain change should start with a review of the site you need to keep. A straightforward host move and a platform rebuild involve different work. We identify the move, inventory important URLs and agree how the new environment will be tested.

SCOPE BEFORE COMMITMENT

What the work can include.

Third-party platform rebuilds, mailbox-content transfers, custom applications and provider subscriptions require separate assessment. Hosting support does not imply cloud infrastructure consulting. A quote states what is included, who approves the cutover and what remains with your host.

  1. 01WordPress files, database, uploads, theme and plugin transfer
  2. 02Source and destination hosting compatibility review
  3. 03Existing URL and metadata inventory; redirects where URLs change
  4. 04DNS, SSL and business-email record coordination within agreed access
  5. 05Forms, key pages and agreed integrations tested before cutover
  6. 06Store order-handling plan when WooCommerce is in scope

CHOOSE THE RIGHT MOVE

A host transfer or a platform rebuild?

A WordPress hosting move transfers an existing site. A new domain also needs a URL and redirect plan. Moving from a closed website builder to WordPress usually requires rebuilding the layouts and replacing platform-specific features. We confirm which work your site needs before quoting.

AN AGREED HANDOVER

Know what has been checked.

Your proposal defines the checks, review period and deliverables. For an agreed migration scope, the handover can include:

01

URL and search checks

A record of important URLs, redirects where needed, canonicals, internal links and sitemap checks, with any unresolved issues identified.

02

Working customer journeys

Recorded checks for key pages, mobile navigation and forms. Where included, test store journeys and confirm how new orders are protected during cutover.

03

Measurement continuity

Confirm the agreed analytics and consent setup survives the move, and check available Search Console reports. A tracking check does not establish new leads or rankings.

04

Recovery and next steps

Document backup availability, the agreed rollback window, provider renewals and who handles remaining issues. Confirm the review before retiring old hosting.

When URLs change, Google may need time to recrawl and reindex them. Read Google's site-move guidance ↗

THE DELIVERY PROCESS

Review. Build. Check. Handover.

01

Assess the move

Share the current website, source platform, destination host and features that must remain. We distinguish a host transfer from a domain change or rebuild.

02

Prepare a recoverable copy

Agree a files-and-database backup, test environment, URL inventory and rollback conditions before modifying the live site.

03

Test the destination

Review pages, media, HTTPS, forms and relevant store behavior. For an active store, agree how changes and new orders will be handled during the move.

04

Approve cutover and review

Schedule the switch after review, coordinate DNS and email records, then check the live site and available search reports. Keep the old environment available for the agreed recovery period.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Before you decide.

Can you promise no downtime or ranking changes?

No universal promise is appropriate. DNS propagation, hosting differences and URL changes affect the move. The scope includes a practical cutover plan and checks intended to reduce disruption.

Will my business email move too?

Website hosting and email hosting may be separate. We inventory MX and other relevant records before DNS changes. Moving mailbox contents requires an explicitly agreed email-migration scope.

What does a migration quote depend on?

The platform, site size, URL changes, access, integrations and active orders matter. Share those details to receive a project-specific scope instead of assuming every move has the same price.

Should I cancel the old host immediately?

Keep the old environment until the new site and email have been checked and the agreed rollback period has ended. Confirm renewal and cancellation dates with the provider.
