A redesign quote should price the work your website needs, not just the number of visible pages. Two sites with the same page count can require very different effort if one has custom integrations, a large content library or an active store. Start with a scope you can compare across proposals.
Separate page count from template count
Identify unique layouts such as a homepage, service template, article, case study and contact page. Then count how many pages use each template and who will enter or review the content. A reusable service layout can reduce repeated design work, but every page still needs accurate text and checks.
List unusual content such as tables, calculators, galleries or long headings. These may need extra responsive work even when they sit on an otherwise familiar page template.
Decide who prepares the content
Existing text may be retained, edited or completely rewritten. Photos and project screenshots need appropriate rights and preparation. Useful article migration includes formatting, media and internal links rather than copying titles alone.
Ask whether the quote includes an existing-URL inventory and metadata review. A lower price that omits those tasks may leave your team handling them during launch. Compare the complete responsibilities rather than assuming every provider includes the same SEO work.
Identify functionality and integrations
Forms, bookings, payments, product variations, CRM connections and member areas require their own acceptance criteria. Record the current behavior, required changes and the account owner for each integration. Third-party fees and account approvals may sit outside the development quote.
If a builder or hosting platform will change, include the work of replacing dependencies. A design concept does not automatically carry over a proprietary application or a custom editing workflow.
Include review and deployment
Agree how many review rounds are included, who supplies consolidated feedback and what happens when requirements change. Schedule depends on both implementation and content approvals; a requested deadline is not a confirmed delivery commitment.
The launch scope should cover backup arrangements, redirects where required, production checks and ownership of DNS or email changes. For stores, the plan must protect orders placed after the staging copy was created.
Compare the recurring costs
Add hosting renewals, licenses, backups, monitoring and support where applicable. Separate an ongoing maintenance agreement from a one-time redesign. Ask what access and editing guidance your business receives if continuing support ends.
Instead of inventing a universal price, request a scoped redesign proposal with your website, business goal, required features and content readiness. The resulting estimate should state inclusions, exclusions, assumptions and the next approval step.
